This time of year can be great and it can really be depressing. Sometimes all at once. According to this article on Huffington Post, there are a whole bunch of TV-related reasons to muscle through.
First, Sherlock is finally coming back. Hallelujah! This BBC production is my favorite version of the British detective’s adventures. I love this show; I watch the re-runs of the first two seasons on Netflix regularly. Stir up your brain cells and get ready to tune in to new episodes on PBS starting January 19, 2014.
Next, if you’re a Downton Abbey fan, look for new episodes on PBS starting January 5, 2014. Programmers are apparently pairing Sherlock and Downton Abbey for a one-two punch on Sunday nights.
Finally, The Bletchley Circle is also returning to PBS on April 13, 2014. Susan at My Abandoned Self recommended this to me earlier this year and I loved it. Set in Britain just after WWII, it tells the story of a group of women who worked as code breakers during the war and were then expected to go back to their pre-war (gender) roles. The show follows them as they adjust (and solve crimes, ‘cuz a mind is a terrible thing to waste). I was sad that there were only three episodes in the first season — but it’s coming back. Another hallelujah!
There are a couple of reasons, at least, to anticipate the new year. What are you looking forward to in 2014?
